How to have new chargers added to ABRP

This has changed a bit over the years as A Better Routeplanner has evolved. Basically, as we want to cover as many charging locations around the world as possible, we use a mix of data sources. Chargers can be added to the data sources, which we then import from. In this article, we describe different ways to get new chargers published in A Better Routeplanner.

Making additions to external data sources

OCM - openchargemap.org
Users can add locations to OSM, and once approved, they’ll appear in ABRP within a day or two. This is useful, especially for non-networked charging locations.

GE - GoingElectric.de
We do fetch chargers from this source as well, but as the page is only in German we recommend adding locations to OCM first.

Uppladdning.nu
A Swedish charger database. OCM is still our main recommendation.

💡 Tip! If a location in ABRP is fetched from any of the above open-source websites - we’ll display an ‘edit in…’ button at the bottom of the charger details page. Click it, and you’ll be taken directly to make updates to the location in the data source.

Reporting missing charges to ABRP

Some exceptions that cannot and should not* be added to ABRP by users with the above methods

  • Tesla Superchargers

  • Allego Chargers

  • IONITY Chargers

  • Rivian Chargers

For the above networks, we strictly use other sources. If you see any locations missing or having incorrect status, details, etc. report it via the ‘report charger’ button on the charger details page or by submitting a ticket here;

Please submit one ticket per charger.

(*You can still add them to OSM etc. to help other EV users, but ABRP will not make use of the edits or additions)

Reporting missing charge cards to ABRP

If you are missing many or all chargers of a network, or we don’t yet have live status for the chargers of a network… You can submit a ticket here;

Please submit one ticket per charge card or network.

And we’ll reach out to our data provider so that they can work on getting a connection to the network.
