Automotive app crashes / shows “Oops” immediately after login, incompatibility with 7.0

Polestar 2 (AAOS): ABRP crashes / shows “Oops” immediately after login when Premium is active

I am experiencing a reproducible issue on the Polestar 2 (Android Automotive).

Context:

  • ABRP Premium activated recently

  • ABRP works perfectly on Android phone and in the web browser

  • Issue occurs ONLY on the Polestar 2 AAOS app

Steps:

  1. Start ABRP on Polestar 2

  2. Log in with my ABRP account

  3. Correct account data appears briefly

  4. App immediately crashes or shows “Oops… something went wrong”

Additional information:

  • Clearing cache/data, reinstalling the app, and rebooting the vehicle did not help

  • The issue started after activating Premium

  • Without login, the app is stable

I contacted ABRP support by email regarding this issue. I was informed that support requests are no longer handled via email and that I was explicitly directed to submit this report through this feedback portal.

Where does this happen?

    Hi all,

We released version 7.0.2 two weeks ago and published version 7.0.4 just recently. Please test and report back if you find any issues on your end (in separate tickets).

    Hi all,

We’re currently working on the 7.0 version for Automotive. We still have some testing to do, but we hope to be able to release an update soon.

Again, we’re sincerely sorry for the trouble.

    Hi @Lukas,

Thank you for taking the time to report this. We’re currently aware of a version incompatibility between 7.0+ and previous versions, which causes crashes like this when using older versions of the app.

Just wanted to add that I experience this with my Volvo EX30 as well. Seems to be stable, but as soon as I login, it crashes directly. If I clear “offline data/app data” in AAOS, the app works again, albeit I need to setup everything again as if it was a new install. Then it crashes agin as soon as I login. It seems reasonable that it it related to the version 7 release that I have on my Iphone and Ipad.

I reinstalled the app because of the update to 7.0 and resubscribed, but I’m facing the same issue. I faced the issue only after I subscribed 😕

      Hi @bruno Diard,

You’ve selected that this occurs in ‘Android Auto’ - do you perhaps mean that this occurs in the app running in your vehicle's infotainment system, ‘Android Automotive / Google Built-in’?

Thank you. Are you able to see if there’s anything in particular that appears to be triggering the crash, or does it happen entirely at random?

This happens completely randomly, but more importantly, systematically. I thought it was because I didn't have a premium account. But now that I have one, it still crashes. It's unusable. I have to force quit and restart. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it's still the same.

I have the same crashes with a Peugeot e-3008. ABRP crashes as soon as the car start. The app don't crash if the car stop.

Thank you for clarifying. Can you recall if this has happened in several versions of the app, or is this the first version you’re using?

Are you using 7.0.0 app release on your mobile phone? If yes, we are working on the release of 7.0.0 for Automotive. The issue is likely caused by the version mismatch.

Yes, I am using the 7.0.0 release on my mobile phone.

ABRP works without any issues on mobile and on the web. The problem occurs only on the Polestar 2 (AAOS) app after login.

That aligns with the version mismatch explanation. I’ll wait for the 7.0.0 Automotive release.

    SilveradoEV LT AAOS crashing

I have your premium subscription on my phone. When I try to load app on my 2025 SilveradoEV LT, it will download but as soon as I try to log in it crashes. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed.

    Can't get 7.x in car

I’ve deleted and re-installed ABRP in my car (Volvo EX30) … it still says it’s 6.1.3.

It might not matter, except that I have other issues that might be blamed on “not same version as on desktop”

      Hi

7.0 is not out on Automotive yet. We do have a beta version that you can try. You can join the beta program at the ABRP page of Google Play (in the car). You should be able to download 7.0.2.

I might try that. Is 6.1.3 compatible with plans from 7.0.1 on other devices?

You can open saved plan on all devices. But if you have another version the plan will have another design.

Bump. “App crashes” doesn’t seem like a low priority bug. It’s been a month…

Update: This is 7.0.4 Beta. I load a saved plan, it renders and starts to attempt to drive, then freezes.
