There are a growing number of vehicle rebuilds using kits and custom EV conversions. It would be great if ABRP could support these vehicles. My build is using a BMS from Orion, and it would be great to be able to link using OBD to get integration and live route planning.

This would be useful for standard, but unlisted, vehicles just as much. I’m in Western Australia, where regional chargers can be widely distributed, so good planning goes a long way. The vehicle I have isn’t listed, so instead of me using a proxy vehicle that I feel is similar and messing up ABRP’s statistics collection, just let me add a custom vehicle as described with the ODBII adapter (that I have). Surely this would also aid in building ABRP’s vehicle database faster and more accurately.
Why not allow to add your own car it your specific car is not listed yet. This way you can enter the official specifications yourself and have the correct information. Now I have to select a car which is close in specifications and I might be feeding the system incorrect data for this specific car. I think that entering your own car with some specifications would be a much better option in that case. From that user created data it could then also be possible to automatically generate an official entry once multiple users have created this by themselves.
How about adding at the bottom of the list of vehicles a “custom vehicle” option. Where a user can type in the batter size, DC charging speed, range, charger port type, efficiency, etc. This way those of us who have modified our stock EVs can still use ABRP. Because right now we have to pick a model from the list that “best fits” what our modified cars have but it doesn’t work as well if we could optimize the stats of the car with a custom option.

Hi, Since you’ve already explained to me that you won’t be supporting e-hybrids, wouldn’t it make sense to introduce a “Universal” vehicle model where users could simply set parameters such as battery capacity, charging ports, range, etc., entirely on their own?
This would solve the issues with vehicles that aren’t yet listed in the registry (and there will be more and more of them), and at the same time, it would allow hybrid users who want to drive primarily on electricity to take full advantage of the app.

Add your own car if not listed

A Custom Vehicle option

Universal car
