Allow a user to build custom EV profiles
It’d be great if ABRP allowed users to build custom profiles based on a “baseline car” to better tailor the true characteristics of the car. For instance, I’d make an “Equinox EV Winter” and a “Equinox EV Summer” car. The cars profiles would by be selected to mirror (close to 95%) the 2025 Equinox EV that I own (AWD). However, they would also allow customization of both actual charging range at a defined % (say 80%), and the actual Reference Consumption at 65mph, both of which differ between winter and summer. This would provide me a better feeling about the destination SOC (I’ve also sent in a request to show destination SOC and destination remaining miles, as both can be important for different reasons).

It would be great to be able to start from scratch, to support vehicles that haven’t been included or are EV conversions. I log enough data to have a good sense of the consumption on my conversion, and planning options would be helpful. I’m also looking to buy a new car that isn’t yet supported, and having the ability to use that data with ABRP would be nice.

This is also essential for many models where you get to choose the specs of the car charger. For example, most Citroen EVs come with 7kw charger as default, but you can pay for an upgrade to 11kw.

Custom Builds using Orion BMS
There are a growing number of vehicle rebuilds using kits and custom EV conversions. It would be great if ABRP could support these vehicles. My build is using a BMS from Orion, and it would be great to be able to link using OBD to get integration and live route planning.

This would be useful for standard, but unlisted, vehicles just as much. I’m in Western Australia, where regional chargers can be widely distributed, so good planning goes a long way. The vehicle I have isn’t listed, so instead of me using a proxy vehicle that I feel is similar and messing up ABRP’s statistics collection, just let me add a custom vehicle as described with the ODBII adapter (that I have). Surely this would also aid in building ABRP’s vehicle database faster and more accurately.

self defined vehicle
My vehicle ist a self modified electric vehicle. How can I use the app? I can not choose something like „self defined“ and type in all my vehicle data.

Hi
Right now we don’t add custom vehicles. Maybe in the future if we have an option for users to model their own cars.

Good news!
TL;DR:
You can now create and use custom vehicle models in the ABRP beta. Either start from a similar vehicle or from scratch, adjust the specs, save, and your custom model will appear at the top of the vehicle list under “Custom vehicles.”
We’ve released a new vehicle modeling tool in the ABRP beta that lets you create custom models. You can start from an existing model and only change what differs, or create a completely new model from scratch.
Create and edit custom models on the web at https://abetterrouteplanner.com/home/app/vehicles (log in with your regular ABRP account).
If you’re not on the beta app yet, follow the instructions at https://abrp.featurebase.app/help/articles/7281877-installing-the-abrp-beta-version to join.
Once you’ve created a vehicle model, it appears at the top of the vehicle list in ABRP under “Custom vehicles”.
To start from inside ABRP:
Go to the bottom of the vehicle list and click Missing vehicle model? → Create custom vehicle. Pick a similar model and edit it, or start from scratch, then save. After saving, you’ll be taken back into ABRP with your new custom vehicle automatically selected.
We’d love your feedback on this beta feature so we can polish it and make it as useful as possible.
