Suggestions for Improving ABRP – Trip Statistics, Battery Estimation and Navigation
Hello ABRP Development Team,
I have been using ABRP for approximately 1–2 weeks, and during this time I have noticed several areas where I believe the application could be significantly improved.
For reference, my vehicle is a 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range.
I would like to share the following suggestions based on my experience:
1. Trip History and Energy Consumption Statistics
When reviewing completed trips and their summaries, the application displays only the total amount of energy charged during the journey. However, it does not show the vehicle’s actual total energy consumption.
I believe the application should separately display:
Total energy consumed during the trip (kWh).
Total energy added through charging (kWh).
Average energy consumption (kWh/100 km).
Battery state of charge (SoC) at departure and arrival.
This would provide users with a much more accurate and comprehensive overview of their journeys.
2. Battery Capacity Estimation
I believe the application’s battery capacity estimation may not be sufficiently accurate.
Improving the battery capacity calculation algorithm would make range predictions, charging estimates and route planning considerably more reliable.
3. Navigation Improvements
Highway exits, road junctions and complex intersections need more detailed visual representations.
Clearer lane guidance and more informative graphical instructions before approaching junctions would make navigation considerably easier and safer.
Additionally, I have noticed what appears to be a delay of approximately 1–2 seconds between the vehicle’s actual position on the road and the position displayed on the navigation map.
Improving GPS synchronization and reducing navigation latency would significantly enhance the driving experience.
4. More Accurate Energy Consumption Predictions
It would be very useful to have the ability to compare ABRP’s predicted energy consumption with the vehicle’s actual consumption after each completed journey.
Using real-world driving data to continuously improve energy consumption predictions would make the application much more reliable.
I believe addressing these issues would make ABRP a significantly more powerful, accurate and user-friendly application, particularly for electric vehicle owners who frequently undertake long-distance journeys.
Thank you for your continued work and for considering these suggestions. I hope to see these improvements in future updates.
Best regards,
