HUD information blinks

The information shown to the HUD on my car is not working reliably, it shows for 1 second and then disappears for 30 or more seconds until it shows again briefly etc.

I run iOS 18.5, ABRP: 6.1.0 (3491)

It reproduces almost every time I use ABRP.

My car is a Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer Pro S.

CarPlay is running wireless.

Where does this happen?
ABRP version number (found at bottom of settings menu)

    Same issue here with ABRP 6.1.5 / ID Software 5.4 / ID.7 Tourer GTX 2025

    Remaining distance/time appear intermittently for 1-2 secs, then disappear and leave the HUD section blank.

    Hey,

    we tried to fix this already, but it appears to be a bug in the car. When the car is stationary and we send the HUD commands, then everything works well. But when the car is moving, it suddenly starts to hide the information, which is very weird, so there seems to be some kind of logic, that VW runs in the background as well, to refresh the data at certain intervals while driving, which seems to clear the HUD information. We already sent a bug report to VW, but never got a response. So unfortunately there is not much we can do right now. This however only applies to the “continue straight for xxx km” instruction and does not affect all other instructions, like turns and roundabouts.

      Hi, sorry I haven’t seen that reply before and to be honest I forgot that I had already submitted this issue. It is very annoying when we drive. I understand that it might be an issue on Volkswagen side, but maybe you can adjust to the same behavior as Apple Plan and Google Maps have. I think they constantly show the next direction change on the HUD (eg: Straight arrow 20km).

      At least maybe consider this to be an option or a workaround for VW ID cars.

        you can try the latest beta:
        Installing the ABRP Beta version

        We already adjusted that behaviour to not show "continue straight” anymore and show next instruction instead.
