Extreme stuttering on android auto

The navigation map stutters extremely on Android Auto (hardware Samsung S24 Ultra, Android 16). I am very disappointed with my purchase of the app for a year and would like to see an improvement soon. Please also take a look at the performance of Google Maps. Are there any tips for better performance?

We will add a message in the future versions, so users know to disable “reduced animations“ option in their phone settings

Thanks for the answer. Can you update to the latest version and see if there is any change?

I installed the update. No changes whatsoever... On the contrary, the jerkiness feels even worse. Even when using the navigation feature in the app.

My colleagues are working on different bugs and fixes before we can release the final version.
If it worked better in 6.1.9 you can get out of the beta version. Please read how to do that hereInstalling the ABRP Beta version

I uninstalled the beta and now i using 6.1.9. The navigation view is just as jerky as in the beta. No change. Disappointing.

I have the same problem. Samsung Z Fold 7. The map marker moves intermittently.

    The location marker moves haltingly.

Hello, I purchased the premium version of the program.

My car is a BYD Sealion 7, and I'm connecting to the program via Android Auto. The marker on the maps moves slowly and intermittently; there's no fluidity whatsoever. I'm sending you a video as an example. Watch how the triangle symbol moves in the video.

      Hi @Ümit Ülgen,

Thanks for the report and for providing the video, it's very helpful.

I see the choppy movement you're describing. How does the marker move for you when you have an active route and are in navigation mode? Does it behave the same way or is it smoother?

It moves in the same way on an active route. Slow and jerky.

I'd like to briefly explain. My phone is a Samsung Z Fold 7, and I have no problems with Google Maps or Yandex Maps. I only experience this issue with ABRP.

Okay, thanks for adding information. Does what you do with the phone have any impact on the Android Auto view? For instance, opening or closing your foldable phone?

No. Nothing I do on my phone affects Android Auto.

      This

is also the case on an active route.

Thanks for all the feedback! Does this change if you turn the phone screen on with ABRP active?

You mean, Android Auto and the phone screen on at the same time?

Yes. We will show some live data information on the phone screen as “companion mode”, but we think there may be some background animation handling on your phone (when screen is off) which we don’t manage correctly.

I tested it. Navigation on Android Auto and simultaneously turning on the screen of my Samsung S24 Ultra. Both with the ABRP app open and with just the home screen. However, this had no effect on the performance of the navigation map or the annoying jerkiness.

    Hey,

while looking at the issue we found an older post, where someone commented, that Android Auto on Samsung devices runs at around 1fps, when “reduced animations” are turned on on Samsung Android OS. It might be called “remove animations” now on newer OS versions. Please check if that is enabled for you. We could at least reproduce 1fps behaviour, when that setting is on. So meanwhile we will check, if we can improve in that situation.

Hey. Additional information. The problem wasn't Android Auto. The problem was that developer mode was enabled on Android devices. I disabled developer mode and everything was fixed.

What can I say: That was exactly the case for me. I disabled the “Reduce animation” option in the settings and immediately restarted navigation via ABRP. The navigation graphics now run just as smoothly as in Google Maps. That solves the problem.

Regarding developer mode: This mode is still enabled on my Samsung and has no impact on performance.

Thank you for the great support from the ABRP team. Keep up the good work so that ABRP keeps getting better and better. TOP!
