Unusable directions

In normally use Google Maps for navigation. I tried using ABRP's navigation and found it impossible. After a couple of turns of direction through the streets of Berkeley, CA, it switched from detailed view to showing the entire route! That is useless. Also, there does not seem to be a way to select an alternate route while driving. Android Phone and Android Auto in Chevy Bolt.
