Toll costs in plan / better toll visibility

In some countries (France for example) toll costs can be significantly more than charging costs. I had a trip earlier this week that could’ve been €45 cheaper with the ‘avoid tolls’ option in exchange for a 20 minute longer ride…. had I known this beforehand (I’ll admit I could've looked at this better before we started the trip but it’s quite a hassle doing the ‘change the setting → replan → compare’ flow.)

My suggestions would be the following:

Add toll costs indication to plan

In the cost overview of the trip, add a line including estimated toll costs. This would be a nice first addition making it easier to compare plans.

Add cost optimization routing

Even better (but probably a lot more difficult to implement) would be an option for cost-optimized routing. With a setting for something like “I’m okay paying €40 to save an hour” (or similarly “I’m okay driving an extra hour to save €40”)

Toggle toll for trip

Now it could be that neither of these options are easy to implement, then maybe at least make it easier to compare the trip with or without toll?

Maybe I’m doing it wrong but here’s my current flow:

• Plan route → Note costs and time

• Clear plan → All settings → Road conditions → Avoid → Toggle toll option → Close

• Plan route again → Note costs and time (look up toll costs elsewhere)

• Then, depending on the choice… re-toggle the toll option (Clear plan → All settings → Road conditions → Avoid → Toggle toll option → Close → Re-plan route.)
