Reference Consumption polluted by Power = 0
I’m on 6.0.3 (3417) and the positive Power read from ODB is always 0 (negative values while break are read).
This leads the Reference Consumption to go to 0 screewing up the extimated arrival SOC.
My Car is a BMW ix xDrive60, I think this issue arised on last update, before you ask I have already submitted the bug from car. I’m attaching the picture you can see the Power = 0, I was consuming at the moment of screenshot around 210Wh/km
- Where does this happen?
- ABRP version number (found at bottom of settings menu)

I don't know if it's the power reading but for sure the reference power goes down to 0 and then I need to reset it.

We would need to get even more details from your data connection. Could you go to the settings menu of ABRP in Android Auto and press “Submit a bug report”? This will give us the detailed responses from OBD so that we can see what is going wrong.

I have sent you this morning several reports. This morning it started with 88Wh/km (it should be around 190) and I arrived back home with 74Wh/km. On this status the arrival SOC is way off and it proposes me to drive 1000 km without even charging. Is there a way to reset those stats?

Hey,
I just checked the raw data, and it looks like we do not get any valid data for positive current. I saw some negative values as you stated, but the other values are always 0. This is what we get from the CAN bus.
The last update on the BMW pid list was only allowing larger battery capacities for the min/max values, which is unrelated to current and did not change any query behaviour. The last change before that is from 2022, so I don’t think, we changed anything recently, that could break the readings. This might be related to a car software update too.
Can you please check, if you get a proper reading when using another app like CarScanner?

Could be another reason. But we want to fix it, so if you can check with CarScanner if that shows valid values, we might be able to fix it.

I think you have already all elements to calculate it:
1) Battery size (BS)
2) Percentage delta (P)
3) Distance traveled (D)
Consumption = (BS * P)/D

Consumption is reported from the car directly. We calculate it based on current and voltage. But sometimes cars also report the power directly.

I know, what I'm saying is that I would use another observable. Instead to use the power consumption reported by the car and then calculate the percentage at arrival you can just calculate the percentage points lost per km.
I'm not an expert here but isn't the power reported by car affected by an inerzia and average windows outside of your control?

We already support that for cars, that report soc only, however for cars that report power we usually prefer that value as it is more accurate. As a temporary workaround you could use the custom PID editor and remove current and voltage, then the calibration should be done based on soc changes only.

Hey, not sure if I understood that in the right way, please do not set a fixed value in the OBD editor. Or do you mean the consumption ref is stable now after disabling current/voltage?

Ok thats fine. After driving a few km, you should also be able to see a ref consumption value calculated based on the soc diff.

Quick update from my side. I’m not able to have car scanner to connect to my odb.
I removed volts and current and
1) I can see power always 0 (I expected that) except when it generates power then I see negative power (I didn't expect to see still the negative values without the pid for current and volts).
2) still the reference consumption goes toward really low kWh/100km

If you can still see power, those values still seem to be read, otherwise power would not be shown. Could you please check again, that no power, current, voltage is listed in the custom pids, also in the init commands?

I’ll deploy a new OBD pid list for ix60 in a few minutes, that removes power related values. Please make sure you remove the OBD custom list, so it can download the new obd list on next connection. If you want to make sure you get the new one, please unlink obd and link again. Then power related values should not be queried anymore.

I’m now on 6.0.3 (3464) and I have tried so far:
Reset piss
Unlink and then relink
Delete the car,adding it back and link it again
Nothing changes,I still see only negative power and volts/current is still in the list and the extimated consumption goes toward 0.
Just to be clear my car is a BMW iX (2025) xDrive60.

I tried again today ABRP 6.0.3 (3479) and I still see all the pids, and car only reads negative power.
I have tried: unlink/link the car, delete the car, add it back and link it again.
I have submitted a bug via interface.

i just checked and the new pid list is properly deployed now. So you should not get any current/voltage/power readings anymore.

hi, I update the app, deleted the car, added the car back, connected again the car with the ODB and now the issue is even worst (I did open another bug btw), TLDR:
1) Application connects but doesn’t read anymore the SOC (it say disconnected)
2) Even adjusting manual the SOC every now and then it goes back to 97% (the SOC at the moment of linking the car)
3) The current SOC and the arrival SOC has overlay issue and it is hidden behind other widgets
let me know what I can do, every time I get an update the app goes worst and worst, do you need a Zoom session with me so I’ll show in real time what it does?
