Radar warnings are just a joke...
Your database for radar warnings / alerts is rediculous. In Germany, it doesn’t even show the fixed installed radars at all, nor mobile ones… In opposite, it shows radars, which are even not there and never have been there… Guys, get together with serious radar warning providers like Blitzer.de and make a deal with them, to implement their always up-to-date database into your system. They have an API for that ! What should be added to your software is also a button, where the community can share positiions of actual speed or police controls, traffic jams, accidents or issues on the way…

Hi
If you mean speed cameras, navigation apps are not allowed to show them in Germany.

Well, you are wrong. Speed cameras are definetly allowed to be implemented and to be shown, the law in Germany just states, that it is forbidden FOR DRIVERS, to make use of an app, which is announcing upcoming speed cameras WHILE driving. Nobody, really absolutely nobody prevents you from implementing this feature, neither is a driver forbidden to be reminded on speed cameras while planning the route for example. By the way, it is in the drivers responsability alone to decide, if the uses an app able to warn him, or not. So, if you just give a driver the option, like it is implemented already, to turn it on or off, everything is fine.
Don’t try to comply with a law, which does not exist !
Here is the original paragraph in german Law, §23, 1c StVO (Straßenverkehrsordnung): “Anyone driving a vehicle may not operate, or carry in a ready-to-use condition, any technical device that is intended to indicate or interfere with traffic enforcement measures. This applies in particular to devices designed to interfere with or indicate speed measurements (radar warning devices or laser jammers). For other technical devices which, in addition to other purposes, can also be used to indicate or interfere with traffic enforcement measures, the relevant device functions must not be used.”
There is nothing written about, that apps mustn’t contain speed cameras…

Since the navigation app is for the driver I can‘t see that it should be allowed. Also my German colleague says it ‘s not allowed.

Well, I gave you the exact paragraph, which is in the law. It is not up to the app provider to make the decission for the driver. As stated, the driver might want to see actual radar locations while planning the drive and it is up to him exclusively to decide, if he wants to take the risk, being caught with an active radar warning system WHILE driving. But if you just say, it is forbidden to implement this function into the app, again, I have to tell you, that this is NOT the case. In any way, if you don’t implement it, well, then you have to live with, that people rather prefer Waze or Blitzer.de for navigation… I will probably not prolongate my abo, especially after the 7.x update, which renders the app almost unusable…
