Polestar 2, unable to enter new destination

I've installed ABRP in my Polestar 2 model 2026, Android Automotive 13.

After starting ABRP I can enter one destination and start navigating. So far, so good. But when I cancel the navigation and want to search for a new destination the search field appears but I cannot enter anything, and keyboard does not appear. When in this situation I press the “go home” button, the app accepts the home address and starts calculating the route, but the calculation does not stop and lasts forever.

Where does this happen?

      Hi,

      I am currently running 7.1.3 in my car, no update to 7.1.4 available yet. But what I posted was also an issue in earlier versions.

    Hi and thanks for reporting this.

    On the non responding search input and no keyboard, this is most likely a restriction on your car, I see the same on the Android Automotive emulator when giving it a speed > 0 for example.

    On the never ending calculation, I might have found a fix for this, please check on the next release (7.1.5) coming soon.

      Hi Manuel,

      Thanks for the response. I am looking forward to the new version.

      Concerning the keyboard, the guys from Google seem to have found a work around of this restriction in Android Automotive since in their app I can enter a new destination (or search for a POI) while driving. Btw for me this is a must have requirement for using the ABRP app on long road trips.

        Sadly the guys at Google have an easy job by setting up restrictions for other apps but letting their apps do whatever they want. There is nothing we can do about it. For Android Auto and CarPlay we got a new voice input feature maybe that fits your needs too? It's untested on automotive so far though…

          Thanks for your reply and explanation. Voice input can solve this indeed. If you need a beta tester, I've add myself to the beta program.

            I gave it a try on the emulator and it works fine so you should be good to go. You can find the mic button on the top right of the search menu.
