Polestar 2: Map view on instrument cluster unreliable

I recently got an update to ABRP 5.5.2 on the Polestar 2 and it comes with a map view on the instrument cluster just like on Google Maps - that’s fantastic and a huge step forward, thanks!

However, I’ve noticed it is kind of unreliable and switches back very often to an empty, black instrument cluster just like in former versions.

On my last longer roadtrip, I was able to find steps to reproduce this bug reliably:

  • switch the instrument view via button on the steering wheel to the view with the larger numbers for speedometer / range (This makes it stop everytime)

  • or open Google Maps

  • sometimes, it even stops after switching to other apps like Spotify

I’ve discovered only two ways to make the map on the instrument cluster work again:

  • completely stop ABRP via App-settings (can only be done when vehicle is parked)

  • waiting for ABRP to switch between light- / dark-mode e.g. in a tunnel. This seems to re-initialize the instrument cluster view

To mitigate this bug as a workaround, I propose to use the funtionality that is used to re-initialize the view when switching between the light- and dark-modes.

ABRP: 5.5.2
