Odd routing
I’ve planned a route the end of which I regularly drive and am getting a fail to plan, which is odd as even with 75% at the last rapid I know I can make it and has been previously planned successfully. Anyway with a bit of trial and error I’ve worked out where the issue is with the linked plan

The plan has a start and finish which are really close together. With the plan as it is the route is a 106 mile loop. If you reverse the plan it is 200 yards!

The plan will usually fail it’s the same address in the both fields. I get the same plan even if I reverse the plan.

Linda, you’re missing the point. What I said was a long distance plan, involving a section of route that has previously planned successfully, and I know to be possible with plenty of spare range was failling. I then identified two points along that route which at the time ABRP would not route between in one direction, preferring to plan a massive loop, but if the two points were in the other order it would route between them. Linda, the two points I was having problems with are in the link above. They work in both directions now and another road I was having similar issues with around the same time also now works in both directions. Both of these were having long 200+ mile issues and sub 5 mile issues.
Could it have been a mapping issue that is now resolved or a road closure? I couldn’t see anything on the map, but I have noticed that ‘traffic’ only shows if routed through it, which makes it difficult to understand why there are some weird decisions on routing sometimes.

Strathcarron Hotel to Kinclochewe Service Station, on my iPad Version 6.1.9 (3649) this routes via Achnasheen, if I reverse the route it was routing via Shieldaig which is much slower. 5 minutes later it is now routing via the shores of Loch Ness 1h 50 mina longer!
Doing the same two points in an in-logged in web version on the iPad routes via Achnasheen for both directions offering the Shieldaig route as a +11 minute alternative.
If I login to the web and plan the routes they are the same as the latest (long) iPad ones

Hi Linda, would I be correct in saying that traffic information comes from HERE? They are currently showing the road closed in one direction past the Strathcarron Hotel. This would explain the odd routing in this case.

Yes we use HERE. Do you know if the road is still closed? I know that we have had some problems with HERE and some road closures are not updated.

And now I’ve tried the long plan again, it fails. Revert back to the two points in the linked plan and again get sent round the loop or direct depending on which is start and finish.
