OBD reported SoC off (id3 pure)

The reported SoC via Bluetooth ODB dongle is way off for my VW id.3 Pure 45 kWh (2022), especially at higher SoC.

Two data points

Car 80%, ABRP 72%

Car 53%, ABRP 48%

    Hi @Casper,

    We currently have no accurate way/formula for getting the display SoC for these models. If you, however, find information on how to properly obtain this value, we’d be happy to improve it.

      Hi Katya,

      Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that the two data points provided would enable you to adapt the currently used formula to increase the accuracy; it does not have to be exact, but the current difference of nearly 10% at high SoC is too large to justify my premium subscription.

      I would gladly help to give you all the information you need in order to make the adjustments, but I am unsure what you need. Do you need more data points comparing the SoC reported by ABRP and by the car?

      Or do you need other readings? What OBD measurement is used to estimate the SoC by ABRP? I happen to be a mathematician, so coming up with a ‘close enough’ formula should be no problem, once I know what measurements ABRP uses.

      Best, Casper

      Hey @Katya Skog,

      I’ve been following this thread as I also have a 45kWh pure ID.3.

      Based on my calculations and tests, this formula has less than 1% error:

      HMISoC = BMSSoC * 1.2625 - 9.0947

      As far as I know, this formula is correct only for the 45kWh ID.3’s.

      The newer pure models (I think from 2025) have 52kWh capacity usable where the original formula should be the correct one. And with the ID.4 pure models the 52kWh allowed capacity exists from the beginning.

      I know this is maybe offtopic, but I should mention that this model has an optional 118kW DC charging feature (instead of the basic 50kW) which is missing from ABRP database for a long time. Sadly ABRP now calculates only with 50kW.

      And pure models can be ordered with or without heatpump like the other ones.
