OBD2 information (battery temperature) in Apple CarPlay

I’m sure I speak for many users of the VW MEB platform running on ME 2.X and ME 3.X systems, which currently lack battery preheating.

It would be incredibly useful if you could display basic information about battery temperature on the Apple CarPlay screen. While this information is available in the app under live car data, using a phone while driving is prohibited in the EU.

Battery temperature is crucial for MEB users to predict charging speeds and take necessary actions—such as yo-yo driving or planning alternative charging stops to preheat the battery. Adding a small “optimal” icon or a simple battery temperature indicator (e.g., near the bottom left corner of the screen) would be highly beneficial. It would make winter driving and long trips much easier for all of us.
