No interface with live battery power level

It used to be that when I planned a trip, it would automatically input the battery power status or charge level into the starting position, and take that into account. Now it just inputs the last number I entered. I've tried enabling and disabling the button that allows it to do this, but it no longer connects with my live status, no matter if that's enabled or not.
