Negative reference consumption!

I just installed the update to ABRP last night and reset my reference consumption (it set to 3.08 mi/kwh). After my 20 mile drive this morning, my reference consumption is now, astonishingly!, -1.4 mi/kwh. Clearly something’s not right here!

Where does this happen?

Same morning drive without a reset and now I’m at 4.50 mi/kwh. It briefly showed 26.8 though!

    Hi

Do you use another live data option than the OBD? Have you tried to unlink the OBD and link it again?

Since the last app update on my iphone 10 or 12 days ago or so, I’ve haven’t seen negative reference consumption, but have seen it bounce around. I reset it after the update, which reset it to 3.08 mi/kwh. It moved around 3.2 to 3.4 for a few drives, then jumped to 4.98 a couple days ago for no apparent reason. It’s now around 3.7 - still much too high.

I continue to have anomalies with the reference consumption. Sunday, May 18, on a road trip, ABRP seemed to get stuck with a very large negative power reading as I was traveling along at highway speed, which pushed the reference consumption through 7, 10, 17, and finally to 43mi/kWh before I reset the ref consumption. I’m running v6.0.1, updated on May 15.

This is getting absurd. I was hoping to get a more accurate reference consumption via live data, but it’s proving utterly unreliable. If I manually set a reference consumption, will the rest of the connected features remain connected?

Hello John, apologies for the slow answer from our side. Your Solterra gives some funny power readings; the -130 kW you show is clearly while driving but it should be positive and most likely not 130 kW (but something on the order of 20 kW).
I see in our data logs that an hour later you are getting normal values.
Do you possibly have multiple apps reading from OBD at the same time or an OBD splitter installed?

After the anomaly, I exited the app, relaunched it, and reset the reference power consumption - it defaulted back to 3.08 or so and seemed normal after that. I didn’t have anything else reading the obd dongle, and have no splitter or anything like that.

Thanks! It would help us a lot if you could enable the “Show bug button” option in CarPlay or the app and then press the bug button on the map if you start seeing weird values again. This gives us a log of the communication with the car.

            I’ll do that.

It happened again today; I did hit the bug report button. “Power” was bouncing around between about -132kw and -135kw. The bluetooth indicator showed repeated connections.
