When arrived, I simply disconneted the phone from Android Auto by separating the cable. If you do so, the App seemingly

remains in Android Auto nav mode with strangely reduced controls. No function is available, even terminating the app via Android UI does not reset the state. I helped myself by uninstalling and reinstalling. Perhaps booting the phone helps as well, I will try that.
I just checked - rebooting the phone does not resolve, not even deleting the cache. But deleting all data via app properties helps. Re-log in, App works again.
