Map insists on keeping one destination

When I first used the app, I plugged San Jose in as a destination, from where I live in Wilmington DE.

Somehow, the app ALWAYS wants to take me to San Jose. If I haven't used it a while and open it, it's got San Jose in as a destination.

Earlier today, I wanted to put two destinations in. I managed to erase San Jose from the app, but, later, when I changed the destination, it reverted to San Jose.

Now, I have nothing against San Jose, but (1) I really don't want to drive 2,500 miles to get there, and (2) there are other places I'd like to drive.

How do I clear out my route and start fresh???
