When GPS signal is lost in long tunnels ABRP get confused and stops following the road like normal GPS after like a minute. It should be locked to the road at the speed limit during the entire tunnel and then wait at end if driver was slow. This is how most GPS do it.

It will also do weird rerouting after signal is back because it thinks the car is in a completely different location.

    Hi,

    We made corrections for this that were released in version 5.7.2. We’re still monitoring how devices report location in tunnels as we’ve discovered, sometimes they provide entirely fake location. You can also track this in Tunnels break logging consumption and speed

    I still have such issues with rather short tunnels. I am new to ABRP and it drives me crazy to always get chaos in tunnels as we have quite a bunch of them here in Switzerland. I am running the app version 6.0.2 (3466) on an iPhone 13Pro with latest 18.5 iOS and connected to a ME3.2 Skoda Enyaq with CarPlay.

    Just for reference, I experienced the same issue in another tunnel on Jan 19h, with the current beta version 5.6.2 build 3206. The trip started at 03:19, I reached the tunnel entrance (location 48.75319, 8.24453) by 3:22 with loss of GPS and almost instant stop of ABRP “drive prediction”.

    Unfortunately, this issue has not been resolved (Katya_ABRP set this to “done” in November ‘24 on the old upvoty portal).

    On my recent trip on Dec. 28 2024, the routing along the currently active track stopped working about 15s after entering a tunnel, and the vehicle location was shown as standing still inside the tunnel, until I left the tunnel when I regained the GPS fix.

    The issue is especially problematic if there are junctions inside or directly after the tunnel that you wouldn’t want to miss.

    On loss of the GPS fix, the current track should be followed as long as the signal is lost (but for at least 10 minutes or so, longer than the average tunnel). The assumed speed should preferably match the last valid speed measured, i.e. the average of the last couple of seconds with a fix, compensating for a potential bad very last measurement with already weak GPS when entering the tunnel). Alternatively, the designated speed limit could be used.

    I was using the most current beta version at that time (already 5.6.0 I reckon, i.e. way newer than any November version where the issue had erroneously been marked as resolved).
