Live data while navigating only updating every 5%

I was using the app for navigation yesterday when I noticed that the remaining charge was only updating every 5% of the battery use. But, I could see in the app the actual live data was current, just the map display was not updating. It was causing the navigation to only reliably show me the estimated remaining charge every few minutes. Is this the “optimization” to help keep the phone from getting as hot?
