Is it intended that ABRP take over CarPlay as your Mapping application each time you start your car?

My experience with CarPlay is that the last 3 running apps are the ones that restart when your car and CarPlay are started in the vehicle. E.g. if I have Apple Maps, Music and Phone running when I turn off the car, those are the ones that start again by default the next time.

Since installing ABRP in iOS and enabling it in CarPlay, even if I have another map application running such as Apple Maps, PlugShare, etc when the car is turned-off, the next time I turn off my car and it starts CarPlay, ABRP is back as my primary maps application — even when I did not have it running when I shutdown. Yes, I can quit ABRP by selecting another app, but it seems like only ABRP is somehow forcing itself to be my primary maps application in CarPlay. I have 8 other mapping apps installed, and none do this, which is great..

Is there a way to make ABRP play nicer and not force itself to being my primary mapping application all the time? I’d far prefer to just have CarPlay default to the last apps I’ve been using each time I turn my car on, vs. having to make a different selection most of the time. As it is, my only solution is to uninstall ABRP from CarPlay, then re-enable it when I want to make use of it for longer journeys.

Thanks.
