Inefficient routing, bypassing I-70 for no reason

Routing from Denver, CO to Vail, CO when no charging required (starting with 90% charge in a Tesla Model 3 for instance) refuses to route through I-70 much of the way, substantially increasing the route time by taking a much slower route. The unroutable segment appears to be somewhere West of Idaho Springs. No apparent reason it refuses to route there. If good reason (maybe too much elevation gain, draining battery too much - though I am skeptical this would be the case, especially as there are superchargers along the route) should be some indication why.
