Improve route recalculation after charging longer than planned

My setup is:

  • iPhone

  • Apple CarPlay

  • OBDLink with live vehicle data

  • Automatic consumption calibration

During long trips, I often stay at a charging stop longer than ABRP originally planned, for example because I need to use the restroom or have a coffee.

ABRP may originally plan a charge from 10% to 60%, but I may actually leave with 70–75% because the car continued charging while I was away.

Once the OBD connection is restored, ABRP correctly receives the new real SoC. However, I find that the new charging plan is often not very relevant. It sometimes keeps recommending a nearby charging stop, while I can easily drive much farther and reach another fast charger later.

On several occasions, I manually skipped the charger suggested by ABRP, drove farther, and saved total travel time.

It would be very useful if ABRP could perform a full optimisation of the remaining route whenever the actual SoC is significantly higher than the planned SoC, instead of trying to preserve the previous charging plan.

Ideally, after an unplanned or longer charge, ABRP should immediately reconsider:

  • whether the next planned charger can be skipped;

  • whether a later fast charger would now be better;

  • total trip time, including the time saved by avoiding an additional charging stop.
