Edit marker metadata form field cursor position handling

The edit marker metadata form field has some kind of action bound to it which will reset the cursor position to the end of the evaluated string. This is a major usability issue if you want to edit/add some text somewhere in between the text. After the first character, the action kicks in, evaluates the string and then positions the cursor at the end of the string instead of honoring the actual cursor position once the action started.
