Destination arrival SoC

I'm always confused about the destination arrival SoC. If I drive to the Grand Hotel in Basel and there's a charging station there, it's okay to arrive with 1%. But if I drive to a lake in Kazakhstan and the nearest charging station is 100 km away, I need to arrive with a SoC that allows me to reach the next charging station. Therefore, the destination arrival SoC should always be such that I can reach a charging station again.
