Consistent map orientation

I’m missing a setting where I can choose to consistently and permanantly have the map always north-oriented, not direction-oriented, no matter if I’m in a routing session or free roaming, no matter if I chose to see full trip, only next destination, or zoomed-in map, not even when highlighting upcoming intersection/turn. Of course for 3d view this makes no sense, but that would be the only exception if set to north-oriented IMHO.

      Hi Linda, thank you for looking into this. Yes, I am aware of the “North” setting in Map mode, but thats exactly the point, it doesn’t work the way I prefer the map to work. After you came back with that question I did some more testing and I think I can now better define what I’m missing. Please keep in mind that most of the time I’m driving I’m looking at Android Auto map, so maybe the behaviour is AA-specific, but I think it is the same on mobile display. Its two points:
      1. when in routed session I do can select “North” setting (or next dest, or full route), all of them are North oriented as I prefer. But as soon as I’m approaching an intersection with routing advice, when zooming in it will change orientation to “driving direction” which I strongly dislike. I understand why some people might prefer it, but for not losing orientation I need to hav the map orientation fixed to North permanantly.
      2. when in free roaming, I do not have a button to select map mode alltogether. and depending on what the last map mode selection in the previous routed session was, it will randomly either display free roaming in north or in driving-orientation. I think when the last setting in routed session was “North” then it will stick to it, but if it was “next dest” or “full route” i think that is when it switches to driving-direction in free roaming afterwards with no way for me to change it.

          Hi, have you been able to look into this? Still, as someone being used to have the map north-up, its really disorienting to have the map rotate to heading orientation when approaching intersection closeups. Also these closeups come too early for my liking. And then when in free driving without active route there is still no way to even select nort-up mode, in that mode i’m stick to whatever map mode ABRP seems to randomly choose for me. Would be great if you could find a way for us to have always north-up, no matter what. Thank you for looking into this!
