Connect to the car only with USB-C cable?

Hello, I saw that I could connect my Android Smartphone to my Opel Astra Sports Tourer EV only using a USB-C cable. It enable to directly open Android auto on the screen of the car, and I can see ABRP “running” on it. Now, my question : do I really need a further OBD device (e.g. ODBLink CX) or is the USB-C cable sufficient to use ABRP without any restriction on my car?     Hello @cedric kottelat,

    Are you able to use Android Auto while driving as well? There are many features that you are not able to use without Premium subscription.

    The OBD device provides you with data of battery percentage and other parameters which makes the trip while driving easier. It will also be able to show consumption for you. You can read more about the additional features with OBD here: Link your vehicle via an OBD device

    issue can be closed. odb dongle will be send back, as it the car does not provide him the needed data (soc). I will then take the premium abrp option and use the enode service (if it works :) )

    Yes of course I would first suscribe for the premium option, to see all the details on the car screen.

    I was just wondering, as the article Link your vehicle via an OBD device - A Better Routeplanner is already 7 month old, if this “solution” was intended for “older” EV not having a USC-C port yet, of if it is still actual for new cars having this USB-C port and a bluetooth connection.

    I’ve asked Opel in parallel, so that they can tell me which information can be "taken” from the car through the USB-C port and the bluetooth connection.
