Charger Status Display Doesn't Update / Need To Know What Colors Mean

When navigating to an EVgo (or EVgo eXtend) charging station the next stop tile showed a segmented circle with 2 blue & 2 grey segments as soon as we started going to the station. Over the 90 minutes or so that it took to get to the station the display never changed.

At other times I’ve seen the segments colored in green.

When we got to the station the segmented circle didn’t match the “facts on the ground” — it would be great to know:

  1. Is it supposed to be a real-time display of station status?

  2. What status is being reported?

  3. What do the colors of the segments mean?

  4. How often does the display update?

    Thanks! I really appreciate you both telling me where to look and explaining the meaning of the colors.

    I’m not sure what you mean by “select a charger.” When I’m driving (iOS device displaying via CarPlay) in a KIA EV6 tapping on the next stop tile doesn’t bring up the legend, it just displays the “extra” buttons (map view, next charger, settings, bug report, etc). The same thing happens when I try to tap on the charger on the map on the CarPlay display. Is that something that only works on the web version of ABRP? Or am I missing something in how to use the mobile app?

    In the web version of ABRP, when I click on a charger icon on the map, I see the charger details. Those are great! Thank you for pointing that feature out. Is there any way to display them on the phone apps?

    Hey,

    the color codes are explained in the app. When you select a charger, you will see a legend below the charger status, that contains the status text for the colors.

    Basically grey means we don’t know any status, blue means we get status, that the charger is operational (not broken) but nothing else. Green is free and red is busy.

    It is a realtime display, and the colors update in our backend as soon as we get status events. On frontend it depends on the situation you are in. However there can always be a delay and it heavily depends on the data quality of the provider.
