Some thoughts on improving the charger search — especially for searches done underway:
If there is an active route:
Search first along the route.
Limit the search to chargers within the current reported (if there is live data) or estimated range taking into account the charger arrival SoC in the settings.
If the current reported or estimated range is less than the arrival SoC, search for the closest chargers in any direction & include them in the result. Ideally “closest” would be on the actual route to the charger, not a simple “as the crow flies” distance from the current location.
Present the search results in a list sorted by arrival SoC, reliability & predicted availability.
Display only the search results on the map with clear indication of which one is which. Temporarily hide other chargers (or at least dim them out).
Allow charger selection by tapping on the list or in the vicinity of the charger icon on the map.
If ABRP is in planning mode (presumably not being manipulated by someone who is also driving):
Search within an area bounded by the start & end points and along the route & within range of the initial SoC or the predicted SoC on long trips.
Display the search results in a list and on the map with the chargers in the list clearly marked & the other chargers dimmed.
