CarPlay overheats iPhone

When driving and using CarPlay with ABRP the phone gets so hot, it refuses to accept charge from cabled connection to car. Trying to use wireless charging overheats the phone to an extent where the phone becomes unusable. It’s not a CarPlay issue it’s an ABRP issue. I have used CarPlay for several long trips using Apple Maps to plan and navigate but for my last long trip, I used ABRP for navigation, and it burned the phone along the way.
