Carplay glitches and disconnections

I made an 800 mile trip over the past two days and have found the Carplay interface to be somewhat unreliable. In particular ABRP will freeze if my phone is running off battery and I plug it into a USB port to provide external power (particularly if it's USB power-only…not connected to the car's infotainment system). This happened repeatedly during my trip.

Following this, and after a restart of ABRP and/or my phone, ABRP will report "this route is no longer viable". It will also not accept quitting and restarting the route without reporting the route to be "no longer viable". I also noticed on one occasion ABRP simply disconnected while driving with no precipitating event, such as incoming phone call, text msg, or notification.

While I truly love ABRP for it's function I do find the map directions to be less than stellar. ABRP directions often are NOT the fastest, or most direct, or even logical. When I compare the choices provided by Apple Maps or Google Maps they are often very different and better choices than those offered by ABRP. I'm not sure what criteria are given priority in those choices but I do find ABRP routes to be satisfactory only about 70% of the time. ABRP is a great product and I hope it will continue to improve. I recommend it to everyone who I encounter driving an EV.

I'm on an iPhone 12 running 15.4.1. My car is a VW ID.4 with the 2.1 software.
