Driver's display turns and remains black after using other app in Android Auto

Problem:

The driver's display turns and remains black if there has been a different application using it before (e.g. Google Maps).

When you make the previous application stop using it (e.g. quit navigation on Google Maps), it works as expected.

Expected behaviour:

The previous application should lose access to the driver's display and the new one (ABRP) should gain access to it.
