Avoid Highways: issue with definition of US highways

Hello,

I am planning a trip from Atlanta GA USA to Jekyll Island GA. I told ABRP to avoid highways. Highway, to me, means Inteestate highways with limited access. ABRp is avoiding 4 lane not limited access highways and taking me on small roads.

Waze, Apple Maps, and Google all consider highways to be Interstste highways.

    I did Lithia Springs GA to Jekyll Island GA and google maps took me on the Interstate. I then clicked Avoid Highways and it rerouted to

    Route 92 to US 41 to US 341 all the way to the coast. There are a few if zags in the middle but that is the main route.

    In the US, avoid highways usually means Avoid Interstates.

    As an added bonus, I have always wanted a slider rather than an On/Off. the slider should go from NEVER use highways to ALWAYS use highways. With the On/Off you see times when you drive 20 miles on a road but the interstate covers the distance in 4 miles. Obviously, you would normally take the interstate.

      We have now update the avoid highways behavior - let me know what you think. The drawback of this new way is that it can cause “no route found” when there is really no way to avoid highways.

    We have checked the current way our routing framework avoids highways, and it turns out that it adds extra penalty to larger road types, resulting in it avoiding both interstates and some smaller highways.

    This has been selected to avoid frequent “no route found”s because there is a small piece of highway somewhere which cannot be avoided.
    Can you give us an example of a Google Maps route which you think is a good proposal for avoiding highways?
