Avoid tunnel route

Every time I try to set a route between France and the UK I am routed via the Channel Tunnel, even though it is much cheaper and more direct to choose the Newhaven/Dieppe ferry. There seems to be no way to avoid this and so I have to navigate only to the ferry ports themselves. Please allow me to choose channel crossings as well as chargers to avoid.

    I have tried planning a route from Germany to the UK (East Anglia), using the Hoek van Holland to Harwich ferry, but it still tries to send me through the tunnel!

    Thank you, that may solve my problem. However it could just as easily route me via another ferry that I dislike as the choice of cross-channel route is based as much on pricing as on directness. I’ll try it and see but it suggests the algorithm should be adjusted to allow relative ferry prices to be taken into account.

    Hi @Tim Ostler,

    It is already possible to avoid ferries/car trains. You can do so in;

    Settings → Road Conditions → Avoid on route

    If I’m not mistaken, this tunnel should be considered a ‘car train’, thus you will avoid it. I’ve otherwise converted your feature request to only request tunnel avoidance.

      Thanks — at the moment one can only avoid both ferries and car trains but not one or the other. Rather than merely avoiding tunnels it would be better to select specific crossings to avoid for any trip or just the current one.
