Android Auto crashing with error message

on 5/9, I emailed the premium support line at ABRP with an issue. I have a 2017 stock Chevrolet Bolt and am a fully paid Premium ABRP subscriber. At that point, instead of displaying map, route and SOC on the infotainment screen, I got a black screen and error messages saying that I was logged in, and that ABRP encountered an error. I received an automated response a that time saying they had received my email and that they were on it. This is what I sent.

My issue has to do with Android Auto. Everything was working fine up to last week, including ABRP displaying on the infotainment screen of my Bolt through Android Auto. There were no software changes on the phone or car that I am aware of. Just for reference my vehicle is a 2017 Chevrolet bolt with the stock infotainment system and my phone is a Pixel 7a.

Every other Android Auto app I have is working fine, both wirelessly and connected via a USB cable to the infotainment system. ABRP still functions on the phone as a phone app, and the web interface works fine, the issue is specific to using Android Auto to access ABRP through the Bolt infotainment screen. All error messages are identical regardless of the method used to link the phone to the infotainment system.

Starting last week, when I accessed ABRP through the touch screen in the infotainment system, I would get a black screen with several messages. These were

ABRP has encountered an unexpected error with an exit button

Occasionally I would get the same “ABRP has encountered an unexpected error” with both a Wait and an Exit button. Occasionally I would get an Upgrade App button, which when pressed did not do anything.

Pushing buttons resulted in the app starting.  If I pushed the Wait button enough, the Wait option would disappear. I would then get a message on my phone stating that the app had crashed multiple times and asking if I wanted to end the app or go to the settings.

Problem solving steps so far, since they do not respond to emails apparently.

  1. Per a suggestion on Reddit, I followed this procedure several times.

Open Google maps on Android Auto
Force close ABRP on phone
Launch ABRP from phone
Launch ABRP from Android Auto

No changes in behavior due to this procedure.

Following another suggestion, I found in the Q and A, I upgraded to the Beta. The app upgraded to 6.0 on my phone, but this produced no changes in behavior.

Given that the primary reason I paid for the premium subscription was to be able to access ABRP through Android Auto, this is a critical error for me. I would appreciate any help, feedback or problemI received no further communication from them.

After receiving no other response than the automated acknowledgement, I emailed again on 5/14, adding this additional information.

App+version:+6.0.0
Build+number:+3371
Platform:+web

Further information, after extensive experimentation if ABRP is open on the phone and I attempt to initiate Android Auto, it will crash the app on the phone.

Still no response until 5/21 when they acknowledged that they do not actually provide support via email despite having that as a support option and asked me to repeat all the information I had provided here in this forum.

Where does this happen?
