Android application extremely slow to navigate during the trip

I believe it's because whatever is done, it needs Internet connection for everything.
Some example of waiting many seconds for applications response:

• change the mode (view)
• click for alternatives on the messages like "better route found" or "plan is not longer viable"

It's so slow, to the point of almost no usability.
Especially while adjusting details, browsing, switching settings, etc.
