Android app crashes

During my drive yesterday, the app crashed twice and hung a couple of times. After the crashes I had to restart my phone to get it to run again and had to force stop when it hung. This is disasterous mid-trip. Luckily my wife was in the car and could deal with the phone while I drove.

Then, after getting the app runnng again, getting the app to pick up navigating where it left off is an adventure. We eventually wrote down the charging stops we had planned and used google maps to navigate.

The app has always had usability issues (IMO) especially WRT restarting navigation where you leave off, but this instability makes it unreliable for trip navigation.

Where does this happen?

    Thanks for reporting and sorry about your experience. We see a couple of crashes from you in the system and will look into if we can reproduce them.
    Are you using Android on the phone only, no Android Auto?

        Hey Ed,

        could you please describe in more details, what exactly happened? Normally the phone restarts the AA app, when it crashes, and I also confirmed in our latest version, that the app restarts where it is left off, when killing the app and restarting, so usually we should resume navigation properly.

        Was there anything specific that comes to mind, that did not work? For example was the route shown, but we did not show any instructions? Any details help here, also about the state of the app, when it restarted. Like was it in navigation mode (there is a button with X at top right and the ETA widget on bottom left) or was it in free drive?

          the car’s screen showed a black window with “app exited” (or something like that) in the middle. my wife had to restart the phone to get it back.

          there were also a couple times when the window on the car just turned black. I think we were able to force stop ABRP and restart.

          I eventually changed my workflow to using abrp to plan the trip, then put the chargers into google maps.

            Hey,

            thanks for your feedback. I just fixed two issues that were recorded which we could associate with your account. We will release a new public beta by end of the weak, so please check it and let us know if you still see crashes.

            One was related to starting the app, which could explain the issues you had with restarting navigation.
