Android app crashes

During my drive yesterday, the app crashed twice and hung a couple of times. After the crashes I had to restart my phone to get it to run again and had to force stop when it hung. This is disasterous mid-trip. Luckily my wife was in the car and could deal with the phone while I drove.

Then, after getting the app runnng again, getting the app to pick up navigating where it left off is an adventure. We eventually wrote down the charging stops we had planned and used google maps to navigate.

The app has always had usability issues (IMO) especially WRT restarting navigation where you leave off, but this instability makes it unreliable for trip navigation.
