ABRP models chargers by rated power (kW), but for 800V vehicles the binding constraint is usually current, not power. A 500 A cable on a ~600–700 V pack delivers 300–350 kW no matter what the label on the cabinet says. The same 500 A on a 400 V car is only 200 kW. Two “400 kW” stalls can therefore behave completely differently depending on the hardware behind them.
The result is that ABRP systematically overestimates charging speed for 800V cars at high-power / low-current sites, and underestimates it at genuinely high-current ones.
Max output voltage matters too. Tesla V3 Superchargers top out around 500 V, which makes them unusable for most 800V cars regardless of their 250 kW rating — but they still appear in plans as viable stops.

The planner could then use min(rated kW, A × pack voltage at SOC) and skip stations whose voltage ceiling is below the vehicle’s pack minimum.
Notes
• Open Charge Map already carries Amps and Voltage per connection in its schema, so there is precedent and possibly an import path.
• An optional hardware model field (Alpitronic HYC300/400/1000, Kempower, ABB HVC, Huawei) would let both values be inferred automatically for most sites, since the type plate is visible on the unit and in user photos.
• Even sparse coverage would help — the values are consistent across a whole network’s hardware generation, so a handful of entries generalise widely.
