ABRP location not updating in Apple CarPlay split-screen view
Hello ABRP Support Team,
I am experiencing an issue with ABRP in Apple CarPlay.
My setup is as follows:
iPhone 17 Pro
iOS 26
Audi Q4 e-tron, model year 2022
Wireless Apple CarPlay
Vehicle connected to ABRP via Enode
ABRP has permanent location access enabled
Precise location is enabled
All relevant iPhone privacy and app permissions have been checked
The vehicle connection itself appears to work correctly. I can see the current SOC in ABRP, so the Enode connection seems to be active.
However, when I use ABRP in the Apple CarPlay split-screen view, the navigation arrow and the vehicle/location position do not update. The map seems to stay static. The only live value that updates is the SOC.
To make the live location update in ABRP, I have to either:
open ABRP once in full-screen mode on Apple CarPlay, or
actively open the ABRP app on the iPhone.
If ABRP only runs in the background, the live location does not update correctly in the CarPlay split-screen view.
I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:
reinstalled the ABRP app on my iPhone
completely deleted all app data and set up the app again from scratch
deleted the Apple CarPlay connection between the iPhone and the vehicle
re-established the Apple CarPlay connection completely
checked all relevant location, privacy, and app permissions on the iPhone
Unfortunately, the issue still persists.
Could you please check whether this is a known issue with ABRP, iOS 26, wireless CarPlay, or the CarPlay split-screen mode?
Please let me know if you need any logs, screenshots, or further information from my device or vehicle setup.

thank you for your explanation.
To clarify my setup:
I basically never use the Audi built-in navigation for active route guidance. There should be no active route guidance running in the car’s onboard navigation.
Apple Maps and Google Maps may sometimes still be open in the iPhone app switcher/background, because I usually do not force-close apps. However, I am not actively using them for navigation at the same time as ABRP.
In the CarPlay split-screen/dashboard view, the other app I usually use is Amazon Music. I do not use Apple Music.
So the typical situation is:
ABRP should be the active navigation app
no active Audi onboard navigation
no active Apple Maps or Google Maps route guidance
Amazon Music may be visible/active in the CarPlay split-screen view
The issue still occurs in this setup: ABRP shows the current SOC via Enode, but the navigation arrow/live location does not update until I open ABRP once in full-screen mode on CarPlay or directly on the iPhone.
I will test again with Apple Maps and Google Maps completely closed before starting CarPlay, and also with Amazon Music not opened, to see whether one of these apps makes a difference.

thank you for your reply.
I cannot say with 100% certainty which apps were active in the background at that exact moment. I usually do not force-close apps on my iPhone, so Apple Maps and Google Maps may have been open in the background/app switcher.
However, I was not intentionally using another navigation app at the same time. In the CarPlay split-screen view, ABRP was the navigation app I wanted to use. Other apps may only have been running in the background, but not actively used for navigation.
As far as I remember, this was not an issue before. ABRP used to work normally in the CarPlay split-screen view, even if other apps such as Apple Maps or Google Maps were still open in the background.
I can test it again with Apple Maps and Google Maps completely closed before starting CarPlay, if that helps.

It’s a problem from Apples side when using ABRP + the cars navigation and other navigation apps. We have also seen problems when using Apple music at the same time. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it.
