ABRP Crash very often

After a few minutes on Android Auto, ABRP crash. Screen blinks in black and ABRP quit.

It does not seem to be a connectivity issue, music keeps playing.

Same issue with or without OBD Dongle.

Other Android Auto applications are working.

Where does this happen?

    Hi

The problem could be your phone. We have experienced similar issues with the Nothing phone. Is there a possibility to try with another phone?

Hello, sorry I don't have another phone to test with; my old phone isn't powerful enough for ABRP. Perhaps there's a setting somewhere that could help?

Do you have the latest software in the car?

Hello, I'm not sure, normally the garage does the updates during servicing. It's a 2020 Audi e-Tron with MIB2+, the version is MH2p_ER_AUG35_P2711.

Hello, I tried disabling the "Adaptive Battery" setting on my phone. ABRP flashes black 4 or 5 times randomly and then comes back on, which is a little better. I also tried it on my other car (Kia Niro), but the problem is different: the map loops and nothing happens when I select a route.

If you use the same phone in the two different cars then it is most likely the phone that is the problem.

I think I've found the solution; the phone needs to be set to 60Hz instead of 120Hz. I also changed the Bluetooth logs to "Error" instead of "Info", and disabled the "HW Overlay" option in the developer options.

Here are some technical details to help isolate the issue:

    • Device: Nothing Phone (1) running Android 15.

    • Connection: The issue occurs in both wired and wireless modes.

    • Audio: Background music keeps playing normally when the crash occurs, ruling out a general USB or connection drop.

    • OBD: The crash happens with or without the OBD dongle connected

    • All other Android Auto applications work flawlessly.

    Thank you for your help.
