ABRP and OBD2 dongle high battery consumption

I use abrp on Android Auto and I have it connected to an OBD2 dongle (OBDLink CX), but this is consuming quite a lot of battery from my phone… I also see that ABRP is reading from the dongle continuously. Is that normal?

I would assume that reading data from the OBD2 dongle every 10 seconds or less should be more than sufficient?

Anyone else having this problem also?

Where does this happen?
ABRP version number (found at bottom of settings menu)

    Indeed ABRP reads every 5 seconds new data from OBD.

    Perfectly normal these types of tools are constantly polling. Business as normal, get a fast charger for your phone.

    I suspect it is ABRP’s underlying navigation that is the energy guts.

    On a few occasions I’ve had ABRP, Waze and Google Maps running together and the connected high power charger could make no progress.
