Good idea, but for me it did not turn out to be helpful - on the contrary, it nerves!

When I plan a scenic route, which might not be the best / fastest / economic / shortest route, I do this intentionally, and do not want to be bothered by such proposals - especially not if they turn up again and again and again… .
