2023 MG MG4 Excite 64 Hatchback

The MG4 Excite 64 features a 64 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 450 kilometers under the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) standard. I can't find an option for my MG4 Excite 64 EV in ABRP. The nearest option seems to be MG4 Long Range but the ABRP app’s battery calculations for the Long Range when applied to my Excite 64 are way out.

As it stands, I'm currently only using ABRP to indicate nearby charging stations because the ABRP calculations are so far out so as to make the app completely unreliable. As it stands, I’m reduced to guess work for the distance I can reliably travel between charging stations when planning my trips and in Australia with the long distances I travel I really need a reliable app to do that for me.

Please include the MG4 Excite 64 in the ABRP app, or otherwise suggest a similar app which does include the MG4 Excite 64 in it's vehicle options.

    Hi @Russell Ashdown,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I've looked into the specs, and the MG4 Long Range (without a heat pump) model in ABRP should match your MG4 Excite 64, as they share the same battery size and similar characteristics.

Could you please provide a link to a plan where the consumption calculations were inaccurate for your vehicle? That would really help us investigate what's going on and see if we need to make any adjustments.

I can't find an option for my MG4 Excite 64 EV. The nearest option seems to be MG4 Long Range but to my knowledge, there is no "Long Range" model sold in Australia. While I am forced to usr the MG4 Long Range option when using ABRP, the battery calculations in the app are way out. Hi

You need to make a request for your car model on this page under Vehicle request.

Charged to 100% for a long drive, the MG4 Excite 64 reports a potential range of 459 km.

Below is a photo of the console showing actual battery state after a 3H47M freeway drive in heavy, congested traffic. You will notice the average kWh consumed per 100km is 14.6. I actually get better than that on an uncongested freeway (around 13.5 kWh/100km). To get maximum range, I generally drive in ECO[nomy] mode.

ABRP seems to degrade the actual battery state of charge when compared to the vehicles console display by anything from 10% to 25% and because of that, I find it misleading to use. This discrepancy from the app to real-time data may be because the app does NOT have a selection for the actual vehicle. I have tried both the MG4 Long Range and also the MG4 Luxury with no improvement in results.

ABRP is promoting “range anxiety” because it is continually planning unnecessary charging stops which bear no relationship to actual battery state or usage rate. Please include the MG4 Excite 64 as an option, I subscribed to ABRP to give me realistic range before needing to charge and I’m NOT getting what I have paid for.

Definitely not! I apologize for the delay. Just so you know for the future, we only get a notification when you use the 'reply' button on a comment. We don't get notified for new, separate comments added to the thread.

Regardless of the link (whatever that is), You still do not have the MG4 Excite 64 as an option. How will this link help if it relates to a different vehicle?

Have you had a look at my post from 11 days ago? It talks about a long drive…

Yes, I’ve read your comment. There’s no plan link for me to examine.

MG Launched vehicles with the same specs but under different names in different countries. As mentioned in my intial reply the existing vehicle model should match yours, the name does not have an impact on consumption.
