OBD Support for BYD Sealion 7
With the recent update to ABRP 5.0 i decided to sign up for the trial period.
I have to use an international version of the vehicle as the Australian variant is not listed.
When looking into linking option. I have no option for enode or OBD. All I can do is generate a token. Enode looks like it doesn’t support any BYD vehicles and feedback suggest OBDlink doesn’t support the Sea Lion, which is no long an option on my app anyway.
This car is heading for no. 1 selling SUV in my country. Would be a shame to not be able to use ABRP
- What type of vehicle connection is this?

PinnedHi,
We need the OBD PID commands and how to interpret the returned data. Since this is not easily available for most vehicles there is not possibility for us to provide a time estimate.
You can check our telemetry API for relevant properties:
documenter.getpostman.com/view/7396339/SWTK5a8w
Also, you can check our (partially outdated) OBD repository to see what other cars report:
https://www.github.com/iternio/ev-obd-pids
If you find that an existing vehicle profile reads data correctly, please let us know, but please DO NOT keep using the incorrect vehicle model with live data.
You’ll find the request for Enode in Enode support for BYD vehicles

Could be that the PIDs we use for an already supported vehicle model could work. Here’s what you can do once you have access to the vehicle and a dongle;
Select the actual model of your car, save it
In vehicle settings, change the model of the saved vehicle to one that you suspect has compatible OBD commands (just any model will not work, it needs to be compatible)
Link the vehicle via OBD (details here; OBD Connection )
Select the correct vehicle model again
After verifying that the data is read correctly (or even partially correctly) notify us that the OBD commands for vehicle model X also works for vehicle model Y.

As mentioned In my original post. I do not even have an option for live data in my app for that vehicle. So not sure how this plan would work. I can only generate a token.
I am not buying an OBD dongle base on thoughts and prayers that one day it might work. I also don't think expecting people to pay a subscription and then expect them to beta test is appropriate.
I pay a subscription for a working product. If i am expected to do beta testing to get the product to work, i expect the product to be free.

Please read the instructions thoroughly. We suggest to first select a vehicle which you suspect has PIDs that would be compatible with the vehicle you have. This way the option is unlocked - but the OBD commands could still be incompatible.
If you do not have access to an OBD, perhaps a different user can test it. As you may understand, we’d really like to have it confirmed as working before claiming to users that OBD is available for this vehicle model.
The OBD connection option does not require a premium subscription. We do not expect you to beta test the product.

Hi, Katya, sorry to barge into the discussion - I’ve just tested OBD port on BYD Sealion 7, EU version with the latest 3.2.2 update (May 2026) with the suggested approach - using BYD Seal as template and it worked perfectly, so I think the data for Seal and Sealion 7 is compatible!
Please let me know if there is more testing I can do and if you think SL7 support can be now be added to ABRP?

BYD apparently have an open API that exposes all the data needed for developers to build apps for their vehicles.
Any chance you guys could build a version of ABRP for BYD native store? then the OBD dongle would not be needed and less security risk

I also own a BYD SEALION 7. I write from Italy. I add to your post hoping that the OBD function will be implemented as soon as possible.

Today, I have been able to connect using Enode connection. It uses OTA data:

Just to write a top-thread comment - tested EU version of BYD Sealion7 with 3.2.2 update (May 2026) that unlocks the OBD port again;
I’ve set the car in ABRP to Seal to check commands compatibility and it worked, so Seal and Sealion 7 command set and data parsing seem to be compatible!

@Linda ABRP it has been over a year of waiting now. Could you please give us any information about the status now as OBD connection is available?

Same situation for me in France. I’d love to use ABRP with my BYD Sealion 7 Confort but it seems impossible :(

Same thing here in Australia. I bought the ODB dongle but seem not be able to connect to ABRP.

Can you test if it works when you tell the app you have a Seal?

Hi
There is no options for live data for your car at the moment. You can make a request for it on this page under Integration request.
