Enode for MG cars

Enode does not support MG4 (or any MG) for live data. Is there any chance it will be supported in the future?

What type of vehicle connection is this?

    Hi @Vit Spinka ,

    We’ve discussed this with Enode in the past. We asked again today to see if the status has changed, and essentially;

They’re looking at the possibility of adding support for MG vehicles, but due to how the manufacturer has implemented the connection for the vehicle, the usefulness of the Enode connection will be limited. For instance, linking to ABRP via Enode would mean that one no longer would be logged into the manufacturers app as the setup appears only to be able to handle one connection to the vehicle at once.

      Thank you.

I also noted that the MG app allows only one connection. Logging in on a new device logs out the previous one. But I can log in again, rinse, repeat. So for example I use it when I drive, my wife uses it when she drives.

How does the Enode connection work? Is it active all the time, or only when ABRP is running?

I wonder what would happen if I logged into the MG app and it would invalidate the Enode connection. How difficult it will be to login Enode again.

Correct, our contact from Enode also mentioned that you’d probably already experienced the effects of their setup.

Once logged in, Enode handles the connection between MG/the vehicle and them, and feeds us data. There wouldn’t be a need to keep the ABRP app running.

However, if we’re able to do things like log activities, it depends on how much data we get from the vehicle. Not all manufacturers include location data. We don’t know yet how this would work with MG.

If you logged into MG again, the Enode connection would be invalidated, and you’d have to link the car again in the ABRP vehicle settings.

There is an application in France called Dreev which uses Enode to connect to the MG4. This application, which connects our electricity supplier and the MG4, works perfectly for me ...

But this means that Enode manages to connect without problem to my MG4 and transmits the SOC to Dreev!

So, ABRP could also perfectly use Enode to retrieve the SOC, GPS position, etc.!

    Hi @Vit Spinka,

Enode just informed us that they’ve started supporting MG vehicles in the EU region. Though, tagged as beta due to the restrictions mentioned earlier that are caused by the manufacturers implementation.

We’ve enabled this for testers only, so if you’d like to give it a go let me know.

          MG4, 64kW battery

          1. Enode login: login by email did not work, by phone number it did (don’t forget to include country code)

          2. the first connection setup is quite slow (>10mins?) with no details shown

          3. as expected, Enode logged me out of the MG app. I can log in the app again, do what I need there, and eventually Enode takes over again. So it’s possible to live with this limitation.

          4. SoC is shown correctly

          5. while charging (AC 11kW wallbox), the charging power was not show correctly (showing 50-70kW)

          6. after the car finished charging to 100%, it kept starting new charging sessions every 15 minutes or so. That does not seem right.

          I’ll keep testing.

The Reference consumption calculated after driving about 400km (with 47%-69% confidence) is now -471 Wh/km - a large negative value. The value keeps changing, so it is being updated (=it’s not a one-time fluke).

Hi ! I just subscribed to the ABRP Premium to be able to get the Enode link to have the data in real time, instead of the OBD dongle that I was using until now. Can you please give me the opportunity to try Enode as a beta tester?

        Hi @Gilles DUBUC,

Are you sure you’ve subscribed the same account as you’re logged in with here on Featurebase?

I’d like to make sure that we enable access for the correct account, are you perhaps logged in with a different account on your phone?

Thank you @Gilles DUBUC, that’s a different account than the other @Gilles DUBUC so you evidently have two ABRP accounts, only one of which is subscribed (the one you’re logged into the app with).

I’ve removed your screenshot here to not keep your email address revealed. (I can see which ABRP account a featurebase profile is linked to from my view)

I’ve enabled access for your subscribed ABRP account now.

How does this work with regard to 12v battery life of the car? It's one thing when the car is running and all the systems are on. But it seems to be polling the car periodically and the dashboard is lighting up every few minutes ; which is a worry for the life of the 12V battery.

Hello, may you please enable my account to connect my Standard MG4 to eNode ?

According to an update of the MG App in January, it should now be possible to have several connections (ie from eNode and the app) at the same time.

Hello, after a few days testing, I can say that the enode connection is working very well when used with a secondary account for the MG iSmart Android App. Both Enode and the App are connected.

The only issue I see is the charging power displayed which is absolutely wrong. It looks like the displayed value is linked somehow to the SoC :

That was a 6,1kW charging session, as displayed on the left panel :
