Vehicle Confirmation Dialog?

From time to time a persistant dialog pops up asking me to confirm that I really am driving the car that I usually drive. I find it both annoying and intrusive. Annoying because it seems to happen after I’ve started driving, so it’s an unnecessary distraction – the time to do this would be when ABRP starts planning. It feels intrusive because it has the “feel” of the prompts from companies that want to make sure that they have my current demographic information even if I don’t want to share it with them.

So, I’m wondering, what triggers this dialog? Is it because I have multiple vehicles in my profile? Or is it that I hold on to cars for too long 🙂

I understand that ABRP needs to know what vehicle it’s planning for, so I suppose it’s not unreasonable to confirm that… A better way to do it, in my opinion, would be to add a button to the “Planning with [vehicle name]” dialog that allows you to change the vehicle.

    Thanks for the feedback. This is a multiple car thing since you have several cars on your account. I have forwarded this to my colleagues so we can see if we can handle it in a better way.

      IMHO, since the “Where do you want to go?” dialog already gives you the option to switch vehicles, there is no need to require confirmation of the vehicle. Or, at the very least, it would be nice if the confirmation were only displayed if it was not possible to confirm the vehicle by “magic” (say with unique data from the ODB2 stream, or with the MAC address of the ODB2 dongle) and to time out the confirmation no later than when the vehicle is approaching the first guidance.

      Thinking back on how I use ABRP, I’m not sure that the confirmation shows up after I start driving a plan, it may be that it appears either when I’m “free driving” or that I’ve started driving and started ABRP planning a trip (likely from a saved destination) at about the same time.
