Why does the app insert 3-4 times as many charging points as necessary?

Why does the app insert 3-4 times as many charging points as necessary? I drive approx. 200 km between charging stops with a caravan and on a trip of 600 kilometers I have to use a maximum of 3 charging stops. ABRP always inserts 6-8 stops. The app is therefore completely useless. There are no settings options because you cannot enter the distance you want the chargers to be.

    ABRP doesn’t have user settable distances between charging stops because its job is to try to optimize the distance between stops to get you to your destination quickly & efficiently. If you car supports it, adding an ODB2 dongle or another source of live data will give ABRP real information to work with as it monitors your progress (and it will also allow it to tune the reference consumption based on the way you drive & the actual behavior of your vehicle).

    I’ve made some rather big goofs while experimenting with the ABRP settings. As a result I’ve been attempting to protect myself by adding a “messing around” vehicle (just a second instance of my car with a different name like “EV6 Experiments” so it will stand out when I’m using that vehicle. That helps to protect me from forgetting that I made an experimental change…
