Settings for a trailer

Questions

  1. Is it possible to edit the name for my vehicle so I can have two versions, one for normal driving on a trip and one for when we are also towing our camper trailer?


    So far, I have only used the paid version of ABRP with an OBD device linked on a trip without our trailer. ABRP seemed to do a good job adjusting to our actual driving performance.

  2. Am I right that ABRP would similarly learn and adjust to our vehicle’s actual performance while towing our particular trailer if we created a ‘plus trailer’ vehicle in our vehicles menu and selected that for trips with the trailer?

  3. Alternatively, should I just have one version of our normal vehicle, select ‘medium trailer’ when the trailer is attached and ABRP will adjust anew on each such trip and quickly learn whether our trailer has more or less drag than you modelled for a ‘medium trailer’?

  4. Do we add the weight of the trailer in addition or is that already included with an assumption when selecting ‘medium trailer’?

    I think the hisory of the trailer config is stored under the car just as wel as normal none trailer trips, right? Wouldnt that mess up benchmarking?

    Hi

    You don’t need to add another car, just add a configuration to your car. Click at your car and then Edit settings.

    When you use the trailer just select the trailer configuration. You don’t need to add any more weight.

      Thanks. I have found the ‘Configuration’ option now. That looks like it will do what I want.

      I went to test how the prediction would go on a trip I had done easily with our trailer before we had ABRP (with partial charges at Cooma and Cann River). On a trip from Canberra (ACT, Australia) to Marlo, Victoria, I could not get ABRP to take the direct route almost due south though Cooma and Bombala to Cann River, even forcing the latter two locations as waypoints, ABRP proposed large diversions to avoid the section of road immediately north of Bombala that I know is quite OK.

          Thanks for your prompt help. Don’t know why but now the direct route is predicted as expected including the bit of road that was previously avoided. The predicted states of charge for arrival are a bit conservative compared with reality, but that is OK. When I get to do a real trip with the trailer, I am sure ABRP will learn and adjust.
